4Ward North Alumnus
I attained a 4Ward North fellowship in the first academy. After completing my PhD focusing on metabolic deficits in astrocytes in Alzheimer’s disease, I was awarded a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Clinical Lectureship in Neurology and in the last 12 months, I have been appointed as a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Neurologist at Sheffield University.
I have secured research funding from the Academy of Medical Sciences, NIHR, MRC and Alzheimer’s Research UK and have published 25 peer-reviewed research articles. I am now the deputy lead for the NIHR dementia clinical trial network hub in Sheffield which is an initiative to increase the number of early phase clinical trials performed in the UK in dementia.
My experience as part of the initial 4Ward North academy was so positive that I successfully applied to be the first Sheffield Deputy Director for the second 4Ward North academy.
