Vicky qualified in Immunology/Microbiology (1st) and Medicine from Newcastle University in 2006. In between foundation training and core medical training she worked in New Zealand and Borneo. In 2012 she returned to Newcastle to commence specialty training in renal medicine and to undertake research into complement mediated disease at the National Renal Complement Therapeutics Centre. She was awarded a one year NCKRF fellowship in 2016 to investigate the heterogeneity in the response to complement inhibition in atypical haemolytic uraemic syndrome.
