I am a general surgery Academic Clinical Fellow with an interest in transplant surgery. I studied medicine at Newcastle University and have spent my years as junior doctor working in the North East of England. I was inspired to pursue academia as a second year medical student following a summer spent with the transplant team in Edinburgh working on a cell therapy project. I went on to undertake a Masters of Research in Transplantation investigating ischaemia reperfusion injury. Since then, I have been involved in a number of different exciting research projects in lung, kidney, pancreas and liver transplant.

Academic Interest: Can ex-vivo normothermic perfusion of donor kidneys be reconditioned in conjunction with mesenchymal stromal cell therapy to optimise marginal organs prior to transplantation?
